A COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP TO IMPROVE TORNADO WARNING DELIVERY FOR THE CITIZENS OF GLENPOOL
On July 7th, 2008 the Glenpool City Council unanimously voted to enroll its 911 database in WeatherCall, a state of the art storm warning service hosted exclusively in the Tulsa area by KTUL. The enrollment is for notification of tornado warnings delivered to one phone number per address. Residents choosing not to participate in the service will be able to opt out.
Phone numbers listed in the 911 database will be entered into the system, along with the street address. The WeatherCall system will assign a latitude/longitude to each address.
When the National Weather Service in Tulsa issues a warning, WeatherCall compares the latitude/longitude of the warning area with the latitude/longitude coordinates of each record in the Glenpool database, and will make 3 attempts to call that number and deliver a pre-recorded tornado warning message from Channel 8 Chief Meteorologist, Frank Mitchell. If there is no answer, the message will be delivered to a voice messaging system if available.
Tulsa County is under a tornado warning. Glenpool residents would NOT receive a WeatherCall notification because the actual warning area is many miles to the north, and NOT impacting the city.

A WeatherCall will come from phone # 1-866-481-3549. It is recommended that you store this number in your phone’s memory and label it "Frank’s WeatherCall" so it will display on your caller ID.
The City of Glenpool - KTUL WeatherCall Partnership provides a tornado warning notification service for the telephone number of each street address found in the 9-11 data base. For a complete listing of all street addresses currently registered with the City's WeatherCall tornado warning system, CLICK HERE.
If you do not find your name and address on this list and wish to be registered for the basic tornado warning to one telephone number per address service, send an email to glenpool@weathercall.net or call 1-800-260-6695 and request to be registered. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHYSICAL STREET ADDRESS AND ONE (1) TELEPHONE NUMBER.
The full-service version of WeatherCall which delivers tornado warnings + optional severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings for up to 3 telephone numbers and 3 email addresses is available to subscribe to at www.ktul.com.
If you have an email address, it is suggested you register it with WeatherCall so you may receive periodic updates and communications. Email: glenpool@weathercall.net. Make sure you include your phone number and street address.
While this precision storm warning notification system could possibly save your life, you DO NOT have to participate in the program if you choose not to. You may contact WeatherCall Customer Care by either email glenpool@weathercall.net or phone (1-800-260-6695) to request you be removed from the system.
Please feel free to contact WeatherCall Customer Care for any of the following reasons:
- Verification that your address and phone number is in the system. If your address and phone number is NOT in the system, it will be added if you send your correct street address (Glenpool residents only) and a phone number.
- Request to be REMOVED from the tornado warning system.
- Change the telephone number on the account.
- Change the address (within Glenpool City limits only).
MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME, STREET ADDRESS, AND TELEPHONE NUMBER:
